Arriving from New Caledonia , Peato Mauvaka joined the Stade Toulousain Training Centre in 2014. His first appearance in the first team dates back to the 16-17 season, during the European match against the Zèbres at Ernest Wallon .In the 2018-19 season, Peato revealed himself to the general public. Initially number three in the hooker hierarchy, the Nouméa native came to the forefront following the injuries of Julien Marchand and Leonardo Ghiraldini and saw his playing time increase tenfold. A very complete player, powerful and skillful with the ball in his hands, he put in some major performances and had an impressive second half of the season. Three days after winning the Brennus Shield with Stade in 2019, he was selected for the French team for the World Cup in Japan .During the 2020-21 season, Peato confirmed his status as a top-level player by accumulating good performances. Starting in the Champions Cup final after Julien Marchand 's suspension , he largely contributed to Stade winning the 5th star and then the double by having successful matches in each outing. In 2021-22, Peato had some great moments with the French XV , scoring twice against the All Blacks during the November tour and then achieving the Grand Slam during the Six Nations Tournament .In 2023, he won his 3rd Brennus Shield after a full season, still associated with his partner and friend Julien Marchand . His presence on the international scene was affirmed with five matches played during the World Cup , where he demonstrated his talent and determination to proudly represent the colors of France.Peato had another full season at club level last season. A starter in the Investec Champions Cup and Top 14 finals , he repeatedly demonstrated his key role in the team, securing another historic double, his second in a row!
